Are you in housing need?
Are you 60 years of age or over?
Are you currently living in rented or unsuitable accommodation?
Do you live in West London?
Are you a Christian who is an active member of the Church of England?
Are you reasonably fit and capable of looking after yourself? If so you might be eligible for one of the 14 flats at St Mary’s House.
If you can answer yes to all these questions you may be able to live in a flat of the almshouse charity of St Mary’s Church in South Ealing.
We have 14 flats located in Church Gardens W5 4HL, and we sometimes have vacancies for suitable applicants for our flats. We provide 12 one-bedroom flats; one wheel chair accessible one bedroom flat; and one two-bedroom wheelchair accessible flat with a room for a carer on the first floor.
Each of the flats has a living room, kitchen and a separate bathroom. The flats are centrally heated and the kitchens and bathrooms are fully fitted. Carpets are also provided, but residents must provide their own furniture and other contents.
Each flat is completely self-contained. Eight are on the ground floor and six are on the first floor of the main block. There are attractive communal gardens, and the block is close to all amenities. South Ealing tube station and associated transport links are within 200 yards.
Almshouse residents make monthly maintenance contributions (MMCs) for the cost of managing and maintaining their flats. The MMCs at St Mary’s Homes from October 2026 are £430 per month except for the two wheelchair accessible flats for which the MMCs are higher. Housing Benefit can cover the MMCs for those unable to meet these costs themselves.
The almshouse is run by volunteer trustees. The vicar of St Mary’s Church, Ealing is ex officio chair. If you feel that you meet the criteria and would like to live in one of our flats, please contact Roger Jarman, Clerk to the Trustees, 07776 187044, jarmanroger@aol.com
Even if you are not looking for accommodation or you don’t meet our allocation criteria, you may know someone within the church community who is in housing need and is looking for more suitable accommodation. If so, please put them in touch with Roger.
